What if,
LUKE SKYWALKER JOINS DARTH VADER
"You can destroy the Emperor. He saw it coming! It is your destiny! Join forces with me! Together we can rule the galaxy as father and son!"
Darth Vader to Luke Skywalker Star Wars Episode 6, Return of the Jedi
We all know the legendary final battle as well as the outcome between good versus evil – father versus son – Empire versus Rebels. But what if the young Padawan and hero of the rebels had actually allied himself with his powerful father? What effects and consequences would this action have had?
There is no question that this change to the original Star Wars finale would have fundamentally altered the story. But what would the rest of the story have looked like?
For this scenario, let’s assume that Luke Skywalker completely surrenders to the Dark Force.
Chapter 1
Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader: New alliances
Darth Vader had already toyed with the idea of killing Palpatine in earlier times, but his armor made him vulnerable. In the end, it was the Sithlord himself who gave him this iconic armor and breathed new life into him. With his son Luke at his side, Vader’s last hesitation about his plan was gone.
Darth Vader began to train the new Sith and gave him all his knowledge to finally put his plan to overthrow the Emperor into action!
Father and son – the two most powerful Jedi in the galaxy – struck down the Emperor without effort and became the rulers of the galaxy.
Chapter 2
Countering the rebellion
Leya Organa, the daughter and sister of Anakin/Luke, realized that Luke Skywalker had completely distanced himself from the light side of the Force. Stunned, she felt an urgent need for action and so trained as a Jedi herself.
Chapter 3
The final fight
The final showdown would then take place as an “intra-family” battle. A battle between the three most powerful Jedi ever! The Skywalker family epic reached its climax here and was unsurpassed in terms of drama. The cards were stacked in the dark side’s favor. They were far superior to Leya in terms of numbers and power. Luke Skywalker, who felt almost no light power left in him, struck down his sister. It was only when he was about to deliver the final blow that he realized what he had done. He realized that in addition to all the suffering he had caused, his actions were now also about to brutally execute his own sister. So there was still a spark of brightness in Luke Skywalker. Leya took advantage of this and converted her brother back to the light side of the Force.
But what would happen now? Would the two of them kill Vader? Would the siblings really manage to kill their own father? Would Anakin manage to kill his children, the only thing he has left – knowing in the back of his mind what strength his son already has? That could be an advantage, but also a disadvantage for the dark and light side of the Force.
What do you think? How would the plot have continued if the story of the Star Wars epic had been told in this direction? Let me know in the comments.
