Darth Vader’s lightsaber

Weapons Darth Vaders Lightsaber Reality One of the most iconic lightsabers in the entire Star Wars cosmos is without doubt the lightsaber of the Emperor’s dark henchman. Darth Vader cut down over 65 people with his iconic lightsaber (canon). If you include the executions and murders of the Star Wars Legends expanded universe, the total rises to a drastic 1,285 deaths that can be attributed to Darth Vader! This puts “The Chosen One” at the top of the list of the most people killed in the Star Wars universe! We take a closer look at Darth Vader’s rarely used deadly weapon. What most people don’t realise, however, is that Vader had to work hard to acquire his deadly weapon. Some stories from Star Wars Legends describe this endeavour in more detail: Chapter 3 Research Research Research After Darth Vader survived his surgery, he was sent by his master to obtain a kyber crystal. Determined to master his new empire, the cyborg travelled to an old Jedi outpost. His goal was to search the Jedi archives for powerful Jedi. During his research, the Emperor’s henchman came across the Jedi Master Kirak Infil’a – a Jedi who had turned his back on the Jedi Order years ago and focussed exclusively on the Force itself. Chapter 4 Confrontation Confrontation Confrontation The Dark Lord tracked down Infil’a on an unknown planet. When he had left his spaceship, the Jedi living as an Erimite confronted Vader. He reacted with lightning speed and grabbed Infil’a in a chokehold! Infil’a just managed to free himself from the chokehold with a Force blast. Astonished by Vader’s strength, the hermit explained that Vader should follow him up the mountain – if he could… At the same moment, a training druid from Infila opened a sluice, which released a gigantic waterfall and literally sprayed Vader away. After a brief inspection of the area, he found a somewhat remote, steep but dangerous alternative ascent. Without hesitation, the waterlogged cyborg took this route. Out of nowhere, Vader was attacked by carnivorous birdsand the Jedi Master’s training druids. Vader, who was unarmed at the time, fought against all his opponents, but with the help of the Force, his anger and his willpower, he was able to clear them out of the way with ease. Chapter 4 renewed confrontation renewed confrontation renewed confrontation Once at the top, the Dark Sithlord, scarred from the climb, grabbed the training sword from Infil’a’s druid and a fierce battle ensued between Darth Vader and Infil’a, but it was short-lived as one of Darth Vader’s legs gave way and broke in two due to the damage sustained from the birds’ attacks. Subsequently, the one-legged Anakin was thrown off the mountain by the Jedi Master with a Force push! Anakin was aware of the consequences that would await him if he returned to Palpatine both without his lightsaber and with damaged armour. Chapter 5 The turnaround The turnaround The turnaround Driven by the desire to gain new powers and, primarily, the will not to disappoint Palpatine, Darth Vader grabbed various parts of the training druid, which he himself had previously thrown off the mountain, and began to repair himself with these foreign body parts. Visually slightly changed, but more motivated than ever, the Dark Lord, equipped with the new parts of the training druid, paid another visit to Infil’a and confronted the Jedi Master again – only this time with no regard for casualties! The Jedi Master desperately pleaded with Vader to keep the inhabitants of the planet out of their fight, but at the same moment the dark Sith Lord destroyed the city’s large water reservoir. Infil’a desperately tried to prevent the destruction when the Sith in black armour seized the moment and used the Force to pull his lightsaber from the Jedi’s belt! The iconic villain then pushed the unarmed and desperate Jedi Master into the water after breaking his neck. Chapter 6 The corruption of the crystal The corruption of the crystal The corruption of the crystal Vader’s journey to obtain his lightsaber is not yet over. The druid on Vader’s spaceship was programmed so that as soon as it detected a lightsaber in the vicinity of the dark cyborg Darth Vader, it would immediately take him to a very specific location : Mustava Vader took the lightsaber to a remote location on the planet Mustava and began to dismantle the saber. He then channelled all his dark energy and compressed it, projecting it and all his pain and hatred onto the crystal. But his endeavour failed! When the procedure was almost complete, Darth Vader hurled it from his weapon with a mighty blow. Shortly afterwards, the dark lord tried again to colour the kyber crystal red, but this attempt also failed. “The Chosen One” decided to try colouring the crystal one last time. All the effort, pain and strain were worth it after all! The Supream Commander of the Galactic Empire proudly presented his new weapon to his leader, the Emperor! The Dark Lord will use this version of the lightsaber for many years to come, but

Jakob Sam presents: The unofficial quiz for Star Wars fans

Event Jakob Sam presents: The unofficial quiz for Star Wars fans Jakob Sam YouTuber & Author Hier ist für jeden Star Wars Fan etwas dabei! Probably the biggest German-speaking YouTuber “Star Wars Stories“, who is also known by his real name Jakob Sam, published his first book entitled “The unofficial quiz for Star Wars fans” on April 16, 2024. The beautifully designed book offers the reader 300 questions on 144 pages in which the reader can put their knowledge of Star Wars to the test. Prove is a good keyword, because the YouTuber organized a big quiz show at this event, where visitors could win numerous prizes (including Star Wars Lego toys, Star Wars figures, etc.). Numerous Star Wars fans gathered on the 2nd floor of Thalia on Mariahilferstraße in Vienna and were eager to answer the questions that Jakob Sam had written down in his book. Chapter 1 Hard facts about the event 22 May 2024 19:00 – 20:00 Thalia Vienna Mariahilferstraße 99 1060 Wien For free Jakob Sam aka. „Star Wars Stories“ Lightsaber Battleshow Personal dedication and autograph on your own copy Meet & Greed with Star Wars Storries Live act lightsaber fight as intermission programme Chapter 2 Preparation of the event room The staff at the Thalia branch on Mariahilferstraße did a great job of staging their premises for the quiz show. Several rows of seats were provided with an aisle to go to the front, which was placed in the middle. On the left side of the stage was a large monitor on which the current question was displayed. From the audience’s perspective, Jakob was to the left of the monitor. He had a high table on which his Macbook and a glass of water were placed. Chapter 3 Let the show begin Jakob Sam was received with thunderous applause by the visitors to the quiz show. As the YouTuber and now also book author did not have to introduce himself to the visitors, he began the quiz after a brief questioning of the audience. At the beginning of each round, a question was asked in the room. Whoever could answer the question correctly the quickest by raising their hands was allowed to enter the stage. There, after correctly answering 3 questions from the newly published book “The unofficial quiz for Star Wars fans”, the visitor received a gift, which the candidate was allowed to choose for themselves, presented on a table (of course, the products were limited). The items to be won in the quiz show were original licensed Star Wars merchandise provided by Thalia and Jakob Sam. Among the contestants was a young boy who was very excited but did a great job with the questions. The way Jakob interacted with the candidates is extremely positive. With his friendly and helpful manner, he helped the candidates with subtle hints to find out the correct answers to incorrectly answered questions. It was not an isolated case, for example, that the host of the show and author of the book used jokers and subtle hints to help the candidates answer all the questions correctly, so that the candidate was able to get their prize. Jakob was not too harsh with his viewers and often gave them the chance to improve their answers, gave the candidates 50:50 and audience jokers (which he subtly influenced :P) and even showed one candidate the solution on his Macbook! Chapter 4 Show interlude during the break After about half an hour, the quiz show was interrupted by a short breather. But the entertainment didn’t stop even during the break, as the LSBS Lightsaber Battleshow gave a live performance to keep the visitors entertained! A woman and a man, who were supposed to represent Sith and Jedi, fought a short duel on stage. Plastic laser swords were used as weapons. The spectacle was accompanied by well-known Star Wars music. https://youtu.be/rlbhsmije74 Chapter 5 final quiz round After the short show, Jakob started the quiz for the final round. The last visitors had the same selection process as before (answering a question correctly as quickly as possible) and the chance to win great prizes in the quiz. At the beginning of the round, a question was asked in the room. The fastest person to answer the question correctly by raising their hands was allowed to enter the stage. Chapter 6 Fanservice – autographs and photos After the quiz show, you could buy the book for €16 at one of the Talia cash desks and have it signed by Jakob Sam. What I found really remarkable was that Jakob took time for each person and had a short conversation with them and, if they wanted, took a photo with them as well as signing the book. I told him that his YouTube channel with its interesting videos was one of the main reasons why we started the starwarsuniversum web project, which was still known as Star Wars Fan at the time. He then asked me for the URL of this page and that I should send it to him via Instagram direct message. In addition to the fact that I was extremely pleased with the thoughtful gesture, it also shows me that he really cares about his fans. Afterwards, he signed an autograph card and my book. Chapter 7 Our opinion To summarize, I am very enthusiastic about the event. Jakob did a great job running the event and responded sensitively to the respective candidates. I particularly liked the fact that the visitors were not just quickly dispatched when signing their personal copy of the book, but that everyone had the

50 facts about Darth Vader

Anakin Skywalker was born 41 years before the Battle of Yavin and died 4 years after the Battle of Yavin as Darth Vader, making him 45 years old in total. 2 3 Although Vader is the main antagonist in Star Wars Episode 4 – A New Hope, he only appears in the film for 12 minutes! That’s still 7 minutes longer than Tarkin’s 5 minutes. A variety of actors were involved in portraying the dark Sithlord: Jake Loyd (Episode 1), Heyden Cristasen (Episode 2 & 3), Sebastian Shawn (Episode 6). David Prows played the iconic villain in episodes 4 & 5 and Bob Andason in the fight scenes. David Prows’ voice was later replaced by that of James El Jones. In addition, 7 other actors have voiced the Dark Lord in various video games and series. 4 5 It is rumoured that the swordsman Bob Anderson had to take over the fight scenes for Darth Vader in the original trilogy, as David Prows was too brutal and rough with the prop swords and they kept breaking as a result! David Prows didn’t realise until the release of Star Wars Episode 4 – A New Hope that his voice would be replaced with that of James El Jones. After learning of this, Prows simply stopped learning most of his lines in Episode 5 and Episode 6 and sometimes narrated nonsense on camera! 6 7 The reason for replacing the voice of David Prows was that the voice of the embodiment of the iconic villain sounded so banal that the other actors simply called David Prows ‘Darth Farmer’. A dispute between the creator of Star Wars George Lucas and David Prows escalated due to the teasing of David Prows’ banal-sounding voice. The actor David Prows, who felt he had been treated unfairly, began to slander the Star Wars films in public, which ended in a legal dispute between George Lucas and Prows. The result of the dispute was that Prows was banned from all Star Wars conventions. 8 9 Darth Vader is the most profitable character in the entire Star Wars franchise! Merchandise featuring Palpatine’s dark henchman is the best selling item in the Star Wars franchise. The script said that Darth Vader told Luke that Obi Wan had killed his father! The only person who knew the truth was Marc Hemmel (Luke Skywalker), as he needed the information to be able to play his role authentically. After filming, the correct text was recorded by James L. Jones. The idea that Darth Vader could be Luke’s father only came to Lucas during the second revision of the script for Star Wars Episode 5. Until then, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader were two different characters. 12 13 Darth Vader is ranked third on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 most iconic film villains, just behind Hanibal Lekter and Norman Bades. The film ‘A New Hope’ is the only film in which Darth Vader’s musical theme – The Imperial March – is not played, as the piece had not yet been written at the time. 14 15 Darth Vader is the only villain to lose his arm three times! Once in the battle against Count Dooku on Geonosis, once against Obi Wan Kenobi on Mustava and once against Luke Skywalker on the second Death Star. The other 3 are Obi Wan Kenobi, C3PO and R2D2. 16 17 Darth Vader and C3PO share first place for ‘most limbs cut off in the first 6 films’. They amount to a total of 5! Originally, the voice of Darth Vader was not supposed to come from James El Jones, but from Orson Welles. However, the creator of the Star Wars epic decided against the voice of Welles, as his voice was too well-known. 18 19 Due to the decision against the voice of Orson Welles, the trailer for Star Wars Episode 4 was recorded by him. In canon, Darth Vader has no father. In Star Wars Legends, it is heavily implied that Darth Plaigus created Anakin using the Force. 20 21 In Star Wars Legends, Darth Vader’s suit would not actually have been necessary. However, Darth Siddious had it made to weaken his henchman and subsequently keep him under control. Darth Vader’s suit, when closed, created a closed atmosphere that kept Anakin alive. 22 23 In canon, it is known from several sources that Darth Vader became even stronger than before after his transformation into a cyborg! The canon refutes this statement. In some early drafts of Star Wars Episode 4, Darth Vader wasn’t always supposed to wear his suit. Originally, Vader was a normal Imperial general who was supposed to fly to Auntie-4 in a suit at the beginning of Episode 4. 24 25 In another early version of Star Wars Episode 4 – A New Hope, Darth Vader was supposed to die at the end of the film to complete the film!
